Where in the helping relationship with Anthony should James have first introduced the prospect of termination, and why? â€Å"Termination is the final phase of the helping process, and how the social worker concludes the client-social worker relationship will influence the extent to which clients may be able to maintain the progress they have achieved. Ending the client-social worker relationship in a planned and sensitive manner can empower clients to continue to grow long after they have left the services of the agency and the social worker† (Cummins et al., 2012, p.268). James should have started discussing the process of termination at the beginning of the helping relationship because â€Å"letting the client know from the intake process and beyond the parameters of the relationship can be affirming, too. A client will less likely interpret the ending of the relationship as something personal, such as you don’t want to meet any more, you no longer like him or her, or you are frustrated with the client’s lack of progress† (Cummins et al., 2012, p.269).
